Default Warrior armor-Ascalon Set

Ascalon set says "Reduces damage from attacks"
Do anybody know in what magnitude does it reduce?

I just can't decide whether using Ascalon set or gladiator set..

I've often wondered this same this. To decide between a 55AL +20% vs physical, or a 50AL +10% vs physical and (Reduces damage from attacks).

If we knew how helpful "Reduces damage.." was it might make the decision easier to make.. does anyone know?

It seems like the reduce damage is better back when I was like lvl 10 and using it I had armor of earth up and would get 0 damage. Any other armor I would get 1-2. I don't know how well it scales with AC though in higher lvls.

Well, the gladiator armor also has the benefit of adding energy which can come in very handy depending on your secondary prof.

Ascalon and knights armor reduce damage from attacks by 2, but the pieces do not stack. In other words, if you want damage reduction get one piece of this and a full set of whatever else you prefer.

While the armor does not stack, this is not how the armor pieces work. For armor pieces with damage reduction, the reduction is only for the area which the armor covers. So if you bought Ascalon boots for the reduction, and the rest gladiators, then you would have damage reduction on your feet, thats it. Runes of absorption work differently, as they cover the entire body from one piece of armor, and do not stack with other runes, but they do stack with the base reduction of the armor.

Nope, you're wrong. Sorry, but I have tested this extensively, you receive the benefit when you are hit anywhere.

From your "extensive" testing, I don't see where you stated anywhere that one piece reduces damage for all portions of the body.

"I equipped a full set of droknar's plate (85 +10 physical) except for the chest (most often hit piece), which was AL 50 (+20 vs physical). I had a second AL 50 chest piece with an absorbtion rune in it. I MADE EXTRA sure that aftershock hit the chest piece because the damage was almost double that of any other piece (59 on any piece except armor but 125 on chest). I then switched to the chest piece with the abs rune and recieved 125 when it hit the chest (where it should have been 123 like it was with an ascalon piece)."

The ascalon piece was boots. It reduced damage taken either from the chest (123 rather than 125) and from anywhere else (57 rather than 59).

Also, Ensign has tested this as well (before me) and came to the same conclusion, execpt we still aren't 100% sure on absorbtion runes stacking with this armor.

It isn't that hard to test this. Buy some ascalon boots, buy some ringmail boots (same AL to magic), go get hit by 5 water tridents, change boots, get hit by 5 more. The damage is reduced by 2 from whatever piece is hit (obviously hits to the feet will hurt more as it is lower AL).
